Season 2 is a 13-episode season of Defiance which began airing on June 19, 2014 and finished on August 28, 2014.



Defiance is under control of the Earth Republic and run by provisional mayor Niles Pottinger. Nolan locates Irisa who insists on returning to Defiance. Datak is released from prison but is forced out of his position by Stahma who takes control of his criminal empire. As Nolan gets his job back as Lawkeeper, Irisa begins infecting other Votans and plans to unleash the power of the buried Votan ship under the town.

Nolan and Irisa return to Defiance and Irisa is almost immediately arrested by the Earth Republic. After a bomb goes off in the market, Nolan agrees to track down a bomber in exchange for Irisa's release.

Irisa attacks Bertie and hides her body in the woods. As a search for Bertie commences, Irisa tries to hide her actions and goes to meet with Sukar. Christie reveals that she is pregnant with Alak's child.

Pottinger is attacked by Raiders when leading a convoy into Defiance and tasks Nolan with finding the equipment stolen. Datak attempts to regain his position in town, punishing his crew and Alak.

After Amanda is attacked she begins to suffer from hallucinations. Yewll runs into her old partner Lev who says that she is dying from a disease they created. Pottinger runs into the long dead Connor Lang.

Nolan and Pottinger head out to lead a team to take control of a crashed Ark Module and come face-to-face with a Gulanee soldier. Stahma finds herself at accused by the Castithan religious leaders.

When the Tarr Family's handmaiden is killed and her eyes are removed, Datak and Stahma work together to find out who killed her. Alak learns that Christie is dressing up as a Castithan and visiting the Janus Club.

A plot to detonate a nuclear bomb in New York is discovered and a spy in Defiance is detained. As Nolan works to uncover the location of the bomb, Amanda is contacted by someone holding her sister and demands the spy be released.

Kenya returns to Defiance but has lost parts of her memory. Stahma and Datak locate Kenya's remains where Stahma had buried her. Pottinger returns as well and tries to cover up his involvement with Kenya.

Olfin Tennety comes to Defiance for a press tour but is killed in a mine collapse. With Amanda and Pottinger trapped in the mines, Nolan works to free them while Irisa attempts to steal a Terrasphere from the Earth Republic.

Deirdre Lamb is thrown from the Gateway Arch and killed during a radio broadcast. Amanda takes on the role of Lawkeeper to track down the murderer as Nolan heads out to locate and stop Irisa.

Nolan drags a dying Tommy back to Defiance as Irisa begins using the Kaziri to activate the Terra-spires in orbit to being terraforming Earth. Pottinger tells Amanda that Datak and Stahma were responsible for the death of Kenya.

Irisa destroys New York City and sets her sights on the rest of the world. Nolan comes up with a plan to remove one of the keys from Irisa to stop her. Pilar kidnaps Christie and Alak.
